Summer

Summer

Soft summer breeze blows blessings across faces

Trees, fully leafed,

Ripple rasping fingers through arid wind

Days lengthen languidly

Into the fullest expression of time heat warms bodies,

While souls search for fulfillment hours slow,

Creeping in the lazy drone of the season

Restless sleep of daunting dreams

Waken through sticky nights

Sweet sweat summoned by shining sun

Displayed in tender folds of exposed skin

Grace in growth of crops,

Human and non,

Struggling toward maturity

Snippets of summertime
